No reason to switch to anything else - well, unless you like wasting money and are concerned with looks. unfortunately, the best way to tell is to pull the stock. Those $4-$8 flat black oxide/parkerized magazine are what the other nations use with their armed forces.why - because they are cheap and because they work. Mil-surp mags are the best in my opinion. You will need a longer grip bolt to fit any of the aftermarket pistol grips. It had the upper shoulder stock tang and wasn't slash cut receiver and original AK parts worked(with minor fitting). After dusting the cobwebs off it and doing some reading up on it, these MAK's seem to have developed a good rep. 7.62 x 39 mm mak 90 ( used ) mak-90 chinese factory built ak, norinco import free layaway 16 inch ' barrel oakland, ar 72661: new: : 2,000.00 : 7. You know when I first bought this 14 years ago, it has china stamped all over everything, and with anything marked 'made in china' I thought this thing is bottom rung on the AK ladder. Yep, this is a Norinco with the straight stamped receiver. Getting a Chinese version intact will be near impossible, so I am leaning towards Bulgarian FSB's and GB's. Will not fit slant cut receivers check you rifle before you buy or milled receivers. Does anybody have any leads on those two items? Let me know if my figures above for the complaint parts add up correctly for me being 'legit' with this thing.Īlso, I want to add a bayonet. USA magazines I believe give me 2-3 US complaint parts also USA slant brake (1 part, but I'm adding this since the orignal wasnt there, so I'm not sure if I need to add something else to negate this 'evil' feature)

USA Wood stock set with the pistol grip (3 compliant parts) In adding the 'evil' features back to the rifle, keeping in the back of my mind that this needs to be 922r compliant, what I plan to add is: All along Id wanted to convert the thumbhole stocdk back to the original 'AK-47' look. The MAK is one of the 93 models with the milled receiver and thumbhole stock, and built in the '386' plant along with the PolyTech Legend. I'm finally to the point where I can devote some time to convert this thing back to its intended state. Well I finally got off my duff and started with the stock conversion for the nice MAK-90 I bought a few years back. It has the thumbhole stock, devoid of a muzzle brake with turned down barrel, and the bayonet and cleaning rod holders are either ground off or welded shut. There is still a good inch or so between the the receiver and the stock when in the folded position, so based on pictures I've seen in the past, there may indeed be sufficient room for a receiver mounted scope mount.I've got a MAK90 I bought new back in 94. I've never had a sight rail or optics installed on an AK, so I can't say for sure if folding to the left would interfere with them. Although it's quite unlikely that I will be spraying from the hip anytime soon. I guess to me it just seems natural for the stock to fold to the left so as to allow unobstructed access to the safety when in the folded position. When used to fold to the left, the buttstock must be pulled up slightly, when folding to the right, it would need to be pushed down. Yes, the folding mechanism can be made to fold right or left by simply flipping it around. Last, I thought I saw some provision/option for a sling mount on the web site. Does the LH fold interfere with being able to use the sight rail? Also how does the folding mechanism works (is it a push button release, or does it break free by pushing down like on the Galil). Just wondering if you have the option of making it either a right or left hand folder.
